What P0174 usually means on a Escape
P0174 is the bank-2 lean code, so on the Escape it applies to the V6 engines that have a second cylinder bank rather than the inline fours. When it appears alongside P0171 on a 3.0L V6, the cause is usually something affecting both banks, like a dirty MAF or a PCV leak. When P0174 sets on its own, look for a leak specific to bank 2, such as an intake gasket on that side. Intake manifold gasket leaks are a well-known lean-code source on the aging 3.0L Duratec.
