P0765 completes the shift-solenoid family for most four-plus-speed automatics: solenoid D's circuit or function has malfunctioned. On many designs solenoid D is involved in overdrive or the highest gear ranges (though shift logic is transmission-specific), so a common complaint is the loss of top gear: engine buzzing at highway speed, fuel economy down, sometimes with torque-converter lockup affected too.
