What P0171 usually means on a Wrangler
P0171 means the Wrangler's PCM is adding fuel because bank 1 keeps reading lean. On the Pentastar the leading cause is unmetered air, a cracked intake hose, a leaking PCV path, or a bad gasket, rather than a fuel shortage. Because Wranglers see dust, vibration, and the occasional water crossing, an aged or loosened intake connection is a realistic culprit. A smoke test is the quickest way to find the leak.
